He choose to get a Ph.D. and it turns out there is very few jobs for his qualifications. As such his wife has had to take on a two time jobs to support their family. Eventually a college friend offers Jorge a job at a government lab that builds chemical and biological weapons. Taking the job would enable his wife to quit and stay home with their two children. They will be able to have a nice middle-class lifestyle. If he does not take the job it will be given to someone else who would do a better job at designing weapons of mass destruction. Jorge believes these weapons are morally wrong and does not want to take the job because he will be doing something he thinks is wrong. What would an egoist think Jorge should do in the situation?
